On Lake Tibet in Bay Hill, the 18-acre property was purchased for $18 million in May by Chuck Whittall, president of Unicorp National Developments Inc., who has begun developing a small community of luxury homes, called Carmel, priced between $4 million and $15 million.
Situated on the Butler Chain of Lakes, the land there was known as the Macey Mound, a burial site where the remains of at least nine people and more than a thousand funerary objects were discovered in the 1920s. The artifacts were traced to the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians, the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
For years the remains and artifacts have been kept at the Peabody Institute of Archaeology, but Whittall has said they will reburied on the property.
The land also included a three-bedroom, three-bathroom, 3,756-square-foot home built in 2000, according to data provided by the Orlando Regional Realtors Association. The property had long been owned by the prominent Hubbard family, which founded Hubbard Construction.
Here are the other properties that cracked the top 10 most expensive home and property sales in Central Florida in 2019, based on information from ORRA, county property records, Zillow listings and GrowthSpotter reports.
2. 4250 Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee: $11.25 million
After two years of negotiations, Osceola County purchased 82 acres from the Nelle Austin family to expand the Austin-Tindall Regional Park. The county for years had gone back and forth with the family’s estate to purchase the rural land, first offering $7.5 million for it. The family rejected multiple offers from the county, saying it intended to sell to private developers.
In August, the family sold it to the county for $11.25 million.
The existing park includes eight multi-purpose fields, three soccer fields, a football field, hiking and walking trails, a cookout area, and a clubhouse with meeting space and a locker room.
According to ORRA, the sold land also had a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home built in 1954 and measured 1,538 square feet.
3. 5115 Fairway Oaks Drive, Windermere: $7.8 million
Overlooking Lake Bessie in the Isleworth neighborhood in Windermere, this 15,063-square-foot home incorporates Spanish and Mediterranean design, with wood and terrazzo floors, a spiral staircase, cathedral custom ceilings and ornate columns. It’s a seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom home with panoramic water views, a library, game room, finished basement and multi-car garage.
Also on the property, which spans 3.76 acres, is a large pool, hot tub, detached guest house and gazebo.

The home sold to Caaae Revocable Management Trust from Giles and Barbara Kemp in November for $7.8 million. It was built in 2015.
4. 1511 Via Tuscany, Winter Park: $6.77 million

On Lake Maitland in Winter Park, this seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom home is the “pinnacle of lakefront living,” said Mick Night with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty. The 10,060-square-foot home, built in 2012, sits overlooking the Chain of Lakes, and also includes a pool, spa and boathouse.
The Vias home was purchased by New England Assets in November from Scott and Linda Fish, who purchased the home for $6.4 million in 2017.
5. 866 Via Lugano, Winter Park: $6.5 million

Also on Lake Maitland, a fully furnished 10,613-square foot home sold for $6.5 million in April to Joel Carmany. The six-bedroom, nine-bathroom house marked one of the highest prices paid for a home in Winter Park this year. The home was built shortly after Leu and Davina K. Burns bought the property in 2013 for $2.85 million.
Home features include a theater, gym and multiple fireplaces. Outside, the homeowners have their own private beach, a kitchen, infinity pool and fire pit. Furnishings are from Marc-Michaels Interior Design, and the home was built by award-winning architect Rial Jones, president and founder of Jones Clayton Construction.
6. 10254 Summer Meadow Way, Golden Oak: $5.69 million

This home on Summer Meadow Way, inside the Golden Oak community on Disney World property, has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, plus multiple “hidden Mickeys.” Rial Jones, who built this home as well, said many of the Disney properties include such features. One not-so-hidden Mickey emblem is in the walk-in 600-bottle wine cellar.
“Some of the owners don’t want to know the location of them, so they can find them,” Jones told GrowthSpotter when the home sold in March.
The 6,389-square-foot house also includes two kitchens, including a kitchen for staff from the Four Seasons to work in, just one of the perks of living inside the exclusive Four Seasons Private Residences.
Jones named the house “Once Upon a Dream.”
The estate sold for $5.69 million to Brian and Nancy Underwood who, at the time, said they planned to use the house as a vacation home.
7. 10319 Los Feliz Drive, Golden Oak: $5.5 million

When you ring the doorbell of this seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom home, you’ll hear one of the songs from the “Beauty and the Beast” animated film. Walking through the house, you’ll spot a stained glass window with an illustration of the rose whose petals fell as the curse on the Beast took hold. And up the stairs, the silhouette of Lumiere, the candlestick character from the movie, is incorporated into the wrought iron design of the staircase.
The 7,317-square-foot house in Golden Oak was built in 2018 and sold in June. The property is two-thirds of an acre on Los Feliz Drive. It was purchased by Kevin Tupy from Brian and Lisa Jusas.
Jackie Voigt, a realtor with Keller Williams Realty at the Lakes, said the new owners plan to add a rooftop deck so they can watch Disney World’s fireworks shows.
8. 10407 Los Feliz Drive, Orlando: $4.89 million

Built this year, the six-bedroom, six-bathroom home was purchased for $4.89 million by Robert and Carrie Dwight. Photos show a Spanish-style home with terracotta-colored roof tiles. The 6,859-square-foot home is minutes from the gates of Disney World Resort.
9. 17800 Palm View Circle, Mount Dora: $4.7 million
This 21,864-square-foot mansion in Mount Dora includes a helicopter pad, 14-car garage, infinity pool, wine cellar, sauna, boat dock and even its own elevator. Built in 2006, the home has 10 bedrooms and nine bathrooms, and sold for $4.7 million in November.
The furnished waterfront home, designed with marble halls, an intricate entryway staircase and columns, also features a poker room, cinema, gym and pool table.
It was sold to Tony and Jessica Jang by Jeffrey and Lisa Randazzo.
10. 115 Palmer Ave., Winter Park: $4.37 million
